Galaga rom complete1/17/2024 ![]() ![]() ![]() Later in the game some enemies are equipped with armor that renders them invincible while in formation. Another type of enemy takes at least five hits to destroy, and it grows larger with each consecutive hit, making it both a larger target and allowing it to act as a shield to other enemies. These creatures take multiple hits to destroy in flight (just one hit in formation), and their main attack pattern is to move about halfway down the screen, stop, fire multiple shots at once, and then fly straight down off the bottom of the screen. Some enemies arrive in spherical "eggs" and emit a loud, high-pitched noise when hit. Others explode in a brilliant shower of fireworks when destroyed, and occasionally these enemies drop a small formation of much smaller enemies that "wiggle" their way down the screen. Some enemies now have the ability to combine into a much larger single enemy that takes multiple shots to destroy. The player can begin with one ship with two in reserve or start right out with a dual ship (but only one in reserve). The objective is to shoot all 40 enemies before they disappear, for a bonus of at least 10,000 points. Periodically the player encounters Challenging Stages, which are set to music and feature "dancing" enemies. Galaga '88 takes the basic gameplay of Galaga and adds higher-quality graphics, triple ship abilities, parsec progression, power-ups, asteroids, bosses and other enhancements. Prey 2022 reviews1/17/2024 ![]() ![]() If you hate depiction of violence and gore, you should probably avoid Predator movies entirely. If you prefer visuals over story, this movie has some nice visuals. However, they are not translated at all, letting you guess what were they talking about. If you hate subtitles, you are partially in luck, as the non-English languages are not translated in subtitles. If you don't mind illogical elements in your movies, you can enjoy this. If you enjoyed the previous Predator movies, you might be interested in this story. If you can get through the first half hour of the movie still interested, the rest will be something similar, just more intense. If you'd like to get comedic moments in your movies, Prey will disappoint you, as it's mostly serious. If you like horror or action thriller movies (Alien, Predator), you might like the film, although there are not many action scenes or scary scenes in the Prey movie. If you like supernatural or fantasy movies, you might like Prey. ![]() If you like mystery or thriller movies, you might like Prey. Image © 20th Century Studio (Disney) Will you enjoy this? Prey, movie for the Predator series (2022) Up to this point I've watched every Predator movie, so I'll probably also watch the next one, but I'm starting to lose hope. I think it's mostly the surprise of the story that makes you feel interested, but I can imagine some people getting connected to this story somehow and enjoying a second watching.Ĭhance of watching a sequel: Good question. Had I seen Prey (2022) without any knowledge about the original Predator movie, I think I'd have given it a Weak (2- out of 3 points) rating. I didn't like Prey at all, but I admit that I've compared it to Predator (1987), that was better in every aspect. ![]() Prey is a watchable film, with multiple problems.Įnjoyment: Bad (1 out of 3 points). I prefer stories with well-thought, logical plots, relatable characters, and Prey couldn't deliver that. Prey is a watchable survival thriller, that I think a select few fans of the genre might enjoy. I find this strange, as it would imply that the other times they indeed use proper English, instead of their own.Ĭompared to the rest of the Predator franchise, I've found this to be the weakest, although Prey competes with The Predator for this title. Most of the movie is in English, but there is another language (I assume, the language of the natives) that's spoken sometimes. I've listened to the soundtrack separately, and it's probably a better way to enjoy it, not being distracted by the movie. The music (by Sarah Schachner) is acceptable, reminiscent of score of the first Predator movie (it even uses some of the motifs), and sometimes The Last of the Mohicans (1992). We don't really get to know the characters. Due to the close-ups, extreme close-ups and blurry shots, I assume the movie was made to be watched on a small screen. However, the CGI animals are very visibly out of place. They are brutal and gory, but you can follow what is happening. There is a character arc for the main protagonist. The consistency is all over the place - there are unnecessary scenes, and there are important things that just happen off-screen. The fate of the protagonist constantly depends on luck, making the action scenes boring. The basics of the story might be good, but the choice of the protagonists and the actual execution of the story is weak. The Prey movie is about a girl trying to survive her first real hunt, while a creature hunts people around her. I didn't watch the trailer, nor did I check any reviews before sitting down to watch the movie. I hope that Prey will become this miracle that I'll be finally able to like. Even though the last Predator movie I've enjoyed was made in 1990, I still watch all those awful sequels, waiting for some miracle to happen. I've known for a while that they are working on a Predator prequel. Maelstrom game jimi riff1/17/2024 ![]() ![]() Likewise, Fighting Fantasy and Advanced Fighting Fantasy were RPG rulebooks that existed as adjuncts to the gamebook line. It’s particularly notable that whilst the Tunnels & Trolls rulebook came out through Corgi in order to support its associated line of solo adventures (which Corgi had wisely realised presented a ready-made source of gamebooks they could simply reprint in order to present some competition to Fighting Fantasy). There is a strong argument to make that, in fact, the RPGs with the most widespread commercial reach in the UK in the 1980s were Fighting Fantasy (in its basic and advanced forms), Tunnels & Trolls, and Maelstrom, because whilst all other RPGs were published by specialist game design companies and largely only available through specialist shops except for a few toy shops stocking the D&D Basic Set, the other three games had their core rulebooks published by major children’s publishers and stocked in conventional bookshops and libraries across the land. Maelstrom is notable mostly for its core rulebook having been released by Puffin – the Fighting Fantasy publishers – as part of their gamebook line in. ![]() Specifically, as well as landing a licence to reissue and significantly expand the Advanced Fighting Fantasy line, Arion Games is the new home of Maelstrom. Arion Games, the small press RPG publisher operated by Graham Bottley, has become something of a haven for games which you can think of as being part of the “British old school”, as Joe from Uncaring Cosmos often talks about – a swathe of games published in the UK primarily in the 1980s that reflected the gaming subculture as it developed here. ![]()

Multiple alignment1/16/2024 ![]() Stochastic methods such as Gibbs sampling can be used to search for a maximum objective score, but have not been widely adopted. It can be achieved by dynamic programming with time and space complexity O( L N) in the sequence length L and number of sequences N, and is practical only for very small N. A common heuristic is to seek a multiple alignment that maximizes the SP score (the summed alignment score of each sequence pair), which is NP complete. No tractable method for finding an optimal graph is known for biologically realistic models, and simplification is therefore required. This graph makes the history explicit (it can be interpreted as a phylogenetic tree) and implies an alignment. ![]() While multiple alignment and phylogenetic tree reconstruction have traditionally been considered separately, the most natural formulation of the computational problem is to define a model of sequence evolution that assigns probabilities to all possible elementary sequence edits and then to seek an optimal directed graph in which edges represents edits and terminal nodes are the observed sequences. We also describe a new method for evaluating objective functions for profile-profile alignment, the iterated step in the MUSCLE algorithm. ![]() We introduce a new option designed for high-throughput applications, MUSCLE-fast. Here, we describe the MUSCLE algorithm more fully and analyze its complexity. We recently introduced MUSCLE, a new MSA program that provides significant improvements in both accuracy and speed, giving only a summary of the algorithm. Obtaining biologically accurate alignments is also a challenge, as the best methods sometimes fail to align readily apparent conserved motifs. Complexity is of increasing relevance due to the rapid growth of sequence databases, which now contain enough representatives of larger protein families to exceed the capacity of most current programs. Two attributes of MSA programs are of primary importance to the user: biological accuracy and computational complexity (i.e., time and memory requirements). Many multiple sequence alignment (MSA) algorithms have been proposed for a recent review, see. Multiple alignments of protein sequences are important in many applications, including phylogenetic tree estimation, secondary structure prediction and critical residue identification. MUSCLE offers a range of options that provide improved speed and / or alignment accuracy compared with currently available programs. MUSCLE-fast is able to align 1,000 sequences of average length 282 in 21 seconds on a current desktop computer. We find MUSCLE-fast to be the fastest algorithm on all test sets, achieving average alignment accuracy similar to CLUSTALW in times that are typically two to three orders of magnitude less. We test three variants that offer highest accuracy (MUSCLE with default settings), highest speed (MUSCLE-fast), and a carefully chosen compromise between the two (MUSCLE-prog). ![]() Accuracy is measured using four benchmarks: BAliBASE, PREFAB, SABmark and SMART. We compare the speed and accuracy of MUSCLE with CLUSTALW, Progressive POA and the MAFFT script FFTNS1, the fastest previously published program known to the author. We also describe a new protocol for evaluating objective functions that align two profiles. ![]() We introduce a new option, MUSCLE-fast, designed for high-throughput applications. Here we present a more complete discussion of the algorithm, describing several previously unpublished techniques that improve biological accuracy and / or computational complexity. In a previous paper, we introduced MUSCLE, a new program for creating multiple alignments of protein sequences, giving a brief summary of the algorithm and showing MUSCLE to achieve the highest scores reported to date on four alignment accuracy benchmarks. ![]()

Remote ssh anywhere1/16/2024 ![]() ![]() There are a few things that could be going wrong: ![]() Now, for the big test: check if you can SSH directly into the Raspberry Pi from your own workstation (not logged into the VPS) through the VPS tunnel: $ ssh -p 2222 Īnd bingo! You should be in. If you have password login disabled like I do, you might get a prompt like: : Permission denied (publickey).īut that's okay-the important thing is you should see more debug messages in the Pi's terminal-if you do, that means the port forwarding is working. Leave that terminal session running, and in another, log into the VPS and test logging into the Pi from it: $ ssh -p 2222 ĭebug1: client_input_global_request: rtype want_reply 0ĭebug1: remote forward success for: listen 0.0.0.0:2222, connect localhost:22 This will output a bunch of debug information, and eventually show. First, on the Raspberry Pi, run this command to configure a tunnel over the IPv4 interface between port 22 on the Pi to port 2222 on the VPS: $ ssh -nNTv -R 0.0.0.0:2222:localhost:22 Now, it's time to test if tunneling works. You'll be prompted to accept the host key, so type yes when prompted, and you should be logged in. Now, log into your tunnel VPS, edit the ~/.ssh/authorized_keys file, paste the public key you just copied into a new line, and save that file.Īt this point, you should be able to SSH into the VPS from your Raspberry Pi. Get the contents of that file by copying the output of: $ cat /home/pi/.ssh/id_ed25519.pub This should create a public SSH key located at /home/pi/.ssh/id_ed25519.pub. On the Raspberry Pi, run: $ ssh-keygen -t ed25519 -C "my-raspberry-pi-name" The Raspberry Pi will need to be able to connect to the VPS via SSH, so you should create an SSH key pair for this purpose. Or, you could restrict access to localhost by setting GatewayPorts no-that way only users who are logged into the tunnel server could access the Raspberry Pi via SSH. Security Warning: For better security, you can set GatewayPorts clientspecified, and then specify certain IP addresses allowed to connect. Save your changes, and restart SSH: $ sudo systemctl restart sshĬonfirm both settings are yes with: $ sshd -T | grep -E 'gatewayports|allowtcpforwarding' You will need to configure the GatewayPorts option, so edit the SSH config file: $ sudo nano /etc/ssh/sshd_configĪnd add the following line at the bottom: GatewayPorts yes SSH's AllowTCPForwarding option must be set to yes for this to work-and that's the default. I pay $5/month for it, use it to host some websites, and it also gets assigned a static public IP address, so I can point a domain at it, like On that VPS, I needed to configure SSH so it could work as a tunnel server: So I chose to use one of my existing DigitalOcean VPSes for the task. Sometimes they are easier for specific needs, but as I mentioned, I just wanted two open ports. Paid services like VPNs and ngrok run their own servers, but can cost upwards of $10-20/month if you want to run a lot of traffic through them. You're responsible for your own security, and if you don't have a good grasp on fundamental Linux and SSH security, you might not want to do this. Security Warning: Punching a hole through to any network-especially to expose something like a Raspberry Pi to the public Internet, increases your network's attack surface. There are a few different ways people have traditionally dealt with accessing devices running through CG-NAT connections:Īnd after weighing the pros and cons, I decided to go with option 3, since-for my needs-I want to have two ports open back to the Raspberry Pi: What this means is there's no publicly routable address for the Pi-you can't access it from the public Internet, since it's only visible inside the cell network's private network. This modem is on AT&T's network, but regardless of the provider, unless you're willing to pay hundreds or thousands of dollars a month for a SIM with a public IP address, the Internet connection will be running behind CG-NAT. For a project I'm working on, I'll have a Raspberry Pi sitting behind a 4G LTE modem: ![]()

![]() Supposing that this rationale is true, this patient could be saved from the aspiration only to “safely die” from hypoxia in the case the anesthesiologist is not able to intubate. Take into consideration that the rationale for RSI is that a paralysed patient with the head elevated to a level superior to the stomach is not able to either vomit or regurgitate, so this paralyzed patient is “safe” from the aspiration risk. Traditional practice advocates that no mask ventilation should be performed in patients who are not fastened (aspiration risk), due to the presumed risk of gastric insufflation and facilitated regurgitation. If you are uncomfortable with the fact that such an important decision is made based on a very fallible (unreliable) evaluation, it gets worse! The worst possible scenario is to have a difficult intubation patient apneic and unconscious, with a tangible aspiration risk with low and falling saturation. Up to this point in the text, there is no polemic question. ![]() If you suspect that the intubation could be difficult you are compelled to choose ATI, for the sake of patient safety if there is no reason to suspect that the intubation is difficult you are allowed to proceed with the so-called RSI. ![]() The decision between RSI and ATI will be based on the perceived difficulty you could find in intubation. The second choice is to intubate first and induce later (ATI – awake tracheal intubation). The most common answer is to proceed with the so-called Rapid Sequence Intubation (RSI). ![]() There are two different approaches to deal with the aspiration risk. How many of the predictors of difficult ventilation (or which ones in particular) do I need to decide whether to intubate someone before or after induction? For now, we do not know the answer to this question. With all that said, I conclude that it is too preposterous of us to guide our conduct based on something that resembles “guessing”. Literature has repeatedly shown that the clinical evaluation of predictors for both difficult intubation and mask ventilation is NOT reliable, and yet we keep believing in our fictional ability to predict in which patient we are going to face difficulties. In rougher environments, even the old-fashioned direct laryngoscope may do the trick, but with a much higher discomfort for the patient.Īll this is based on a fictional presumption that we have the slightest idea how to identify which one among all the patients is difficult to ventilate or intubate. ![]() The recommended management of patients in whom a difficult airway is predicted is to perform “awake” intubation (ATI), which is accomplished using either a flexible intubation scope or (more recently), a video laryngoscope. We propose and believe that whenever there is uncertainty or doubt about the ability to VENTILATE, the most prudent approach is to proceed with topical anaesthesia (with or exceptionally without) plus sedation (or exceptionally without) and perform the so-called “awake intubation” (ATI). The basis of all the algorithms (and our beliefs) is that once we have defined that we can with “certainty and security” guarantee the ventilation (and/or maybe intubation), we can induce. Marcelo Ramos, most important decision in anaesthesia is whether to intubate BEFORE or AFTER induction. We expect comments and opinions from our readers. Chief Editor note : This clinical paper raises an important dilemma for the practitioner. ![]()
